This was on my watchlist for a long time. But I allotted time to watch this movie today. I had no expectations or pre-determination before watching this movie. The movie starts with a bunch of youth spending / creating time for their own and enjoying their life. An incident occurred when four friends got into a drug raid. Unfortunately, one of the boy's dads in the gang is the police officer who is handling that case. A series of events happens between the father and the son, their friends, and family members.

When I watch movies, the first thing that grabs my attention is the Continuity Mistakes in those movies. I wonder when exactly the filmmakers would have noticed the Continuity Mistakes and learned about them. It is not a sin but it is better for filmmakers to consciously keep that in their mind and avoid it. Pinpointing the very first movie with a continuity mistake is challenging due to the limited documentation and historical records, especially from the early years of world cinema. However, as the industry developed, filmmakers became more aware of continuity, and mistakes were noticed.
When I was a "Fanboy" alone, my mind was full of quarrels on why a movie like "Hey Ram" could be a disaster at the box office.
Years pass by. I learned the art of "Script Auditing", and "Film Appreciation" through which I was able to read between the lines of Characterization, Plot Structure, Story Narratives, Events, Genres, etc. Without any bias, I could see through the movies like an X-ray machine. "Hey Ram" suffers a lot in Point of view, Story Narrative, Motive, Goals, and Characterization. A few of the problems are as follows;
The Matrix is one of the iconic, disruptive movies of the '90s. It had breathtaking visual effects and a storytelling narrative structure. I pondered it many times as a kid and watched it repeatedly until I learned Visual Grammar. I wonder if this scene had a storyboard at the time of pre-production. Let us look at some basic points the team failed to cover up.
Lighting Mismatch - Image 1 has visuals of both Neo and the Centinal having a light source on their left side. People who are on the opposite side will not have a light source on the same side (Left Side).
Is it possible for us to give a score to a Film? Yes, Indeed. What gets measured, gets done. When you are an audience, you give a general rating to the film. But when you are a filmmaker, you tend to seek more ratings for your movies. If we are asked to rate our own creation, we tend to give more ratings to it. But it has to be done in a neutral way through a film analyst. You can do the analysis by yourself by following the below-given chart. I have created it and used it in all my film analysis and script auditing assignments. It helps you to know why certain films alone are appreciated and celebrated by the public. The audience analyses both the ideation and execution part. Even if the script is weak or So-So, and gives a brilliant execution, audiences welcome those movies. But they have never supported a brilliant script with weak or So-So execution.
Recently, I have seen a slump in Hollywood's quality of the Screenplay. Black Adam is another addition to the list. Both, the story world and narration are handled with the Whimps and Fancies of the Writer. The story starts with the inception of Black Adam and suddenly gets into the modern era portraying a different Antagonist called "Intergang". The purpose and conflicts of the story world keep on changing from time to time. Hence, it is difficult to follow the characters and their motives.
Film pundits say it is difficult to judge the success of movies at the time of their making. Everyone wants to deliver a successful movie. But, 90% of the films turn out to be average grosser or a disaster at the box office. I am sure that no one wants to deliver a disastrous movie nor willing to waste the money as a learning experience. Several things stop the filmmakers from converting their efforts into success.The first one is the myths roaming in the industry. Right from Pooja Muhurath till its release, filmmakers fall prey to various superstitious practices. Instead of believing in their efforts, they believe in numerology, perfect dates, costume color, artist acceptance, etc. That is also required but on a thin layer. The major concentration needs to be on ticking various checkboxes at the right time. I would like to share a research of mine as a checklist to deliver successful movies.
Experts say the 'Post Corona' era has a different type of 'Crowd Approach and Choosy Nature' towards movies and theatres. Due to the boom of the OTT market, the crowd decides between films. They have the option to wait and watch in theatres or madly rush towards the theatres to enjoy the theatre experience. Thus, successful movies have a big fan following and theatrical experience moments. It was told that people wait to watch the movies of new faces or ignore them. Despite all market predictions, how did "Love Today" (2022) movie go on to become successful in the theatre? Here are my understanding of what went right with "Love Today" (2022);

பாட்டேர்ன் (Pattern) என்னும் முறை எப்படி எழுத்தாளர்களை தன் கட்டுக்குள் வைத்துக்கொண்டு புதிய வகை சிந்தனையை வரவிடாமல் தடுக்கிறது என்பதை இதற்கு முன் பல கட்டுரையில் நான் எழுதியிருக்கிறேன். பாட்டேர்னை தன் கட்டுக்குள் வைத்திருக்கும் எழுத்தாளர்கள் பெரிய அளவில் பேசப்படுவார்கள். அதற்குள் எழுத்தாளர்கள் வீழ்ந்துவிட்டால் புதர்க்குழி மணல் போல் மூழ்க வேண்டியிருக்கும்.

The pattern is a subconscious activity that rules the action of human beings. When you know your pattern, you can control it. If not, it controls you. The Pattern can be both a boon and a bane for filmmakers. It helps to stand out from other human beings and at the same time, it can be dangerous if repeated again and again. I researched the filmmaking pattern of Director Mani Ratnam and his Story World. I could see a pattern in every genre and movie of him.
